Its that time of the year again and we aren’t pretending you haven’t seen all this before. Really. What is there to say.
If you have seen the Uglies, you will have your phone out and be ringing around to see how many of your friends want to come along again.
If you haven’t, then read very quickly to the bottom of the page and then quickly ring around to see how many of your friends want to come along.
It’s a great night and now for all the newbies…
The Ugly Uncles biography ( they wrote a new one last year… )
The Ugly Uncles are a dissolute bunch of chancers who got together a quarter of a century ago to see if it’s possible to have as much fun on-stage as the audience does off.
These lovable larrikins have been testing this hypothesis ever since with their jug-inspired musical madcap humour. The versatile Uncles ‘jug’ along on an eclectic mix loosely defined as folk -jazz, jug band, rock ‘n roll, calypso and ceili and the repartee between songs is often more eccentric than the selection of songs themselves.
The Uncles ‘uncle’ just about everything. No genre is spared!
Come join the Ugly Uncles for a rare and precious outing. Not to be missed!
The Ugly Uncles are {we think) :
Uncle Derek Guille -vocals, guitar, kazoo, other musical toys
Uncle Jim Brannon – vocals, alto sax, clarinet, ace whistling, pineapple
Uncle James Rigby –vocals, guitars, banjo, mandolin
Uncle Tony Allan – vocals, any instrument lying around
Uncle Sally Taylor – fiddle, vocals
Uncle Pip Avent – tuba, bass guitar, vocals
Uncle Steve Edward – piano, whistles
Uncle Rod Bradbury – drums, vocals.
And be warned they all still have ukuleles!
The Ugly Uncles are welcome repeat offenders at Albert Park Port Lounge and at every other festival, they’ve even gotten invited back ( even with the ukes???? really???).
They also do events and wineries in between festival appearances.
The Ugly Uncles are an fully immersive experience not to be missed!
I always jump at the chance to have them back again. It’s always a wonderful night and this one will be better. Not to be missed!
