Renowned singer songwriter, Martyn Wyndham-Read returns to Australia in 2015 for the promotional tour of his latest album ‘Starlit Skies’.

Martyn has been involved in folk music for over forty plus years.  He has been a regular visitor to Australia since his early teens when he worked on a South Australian sheep station, ‘Emu Springs’ where he was captivated by songs he heard from station hands.  His passion for Australian song and verse grew from these days and has evolved over the years to his recognition as a significant interpreter of the works of Henry Lawson in musical and lyrical form.

The 1960’s saw Martyn as a significant part of the Melbourne folk scene and a regular in the famed ‘Traynor’s’ music venue.

On his return to England, Martyn met Bert Lloyd a renowned singer and song collector which resulted in Martyn’s participation in the album ‘Leviathian’ on the ‘Topic’ label.  Recording for Bill Leader and extensive international touring came soon after.

The ‘Maypoles to Mistletoe’ concerts which portrayed the seasons of the year through song, music, dance, verse and illustration followed in the 1970’s. The well known Song Links Project was instigated by Martyn and he worked with Shirley Collins in the development of ‘Down the Lawson Track’ which was featured at the National Folk Festival, Canberra and the Fairbridge Festival, Western Australia in 2011.

His latest album ‘Starlit Skies’  will be a feature of his 2015 Australian tour along with a range of ‘feature’ concerts which have been developed to showcase Martyn’s passion for Australian traditional music and verse.
